Objetivos |
In 2000, the Security Council unanimously adopted UNSC Resolution 1325, which recognized the disproportionate impact of conflict on women and girls. It urged member states to take special measures to protect women and girls from gender-based violence in situations of armed conflict, and called for active participation of women in decision-making and peace processes at all levels, to trengthen prospects for sustainable peace and security. Although significant progress has been made since, obstacles for participation in peace processes still remain, and impunity for violence against women is widespread. This summer school, a joint initiative of Oxfam Novib and Leiden University in The Hague, will take a close look at the achievements and the challenges of the Women, Peace and Security agenda. |
