Additional Information Women for Women’s Human Rights (WWHR) is one of the six non-governmental organizations on the National Committee for the UN Decade for Human Rights Education (1995-2004). The main aims within the Committee are:
*To ensure that the implementation and expansion of human rights education in Turkey is in accordance with international standards;
*To make sure that all the education programs to be prepared and implemented have a gender-sensitive perspective.

WWHR played an active role in the adaptation of a gender perspective to the National Plan on Human Rights Education in Turkey. More specifically, WWHR, as one of the members of the working group on “Revision of Primary and Secondary Formal Education School Books from a Human Rights Perspective” analyzed the 1st, 2nd and 3rd grade school books on General Studies and the 1st grade Primary Reader from a human rights and gender perspective, and presented its recommendations to the National Committee to be forwarded to the Ministry of Education. Additionally WWHR has also undertaken various tasks within the working group on “Non-governmental Organizations and the Training of Trainers.”
