Objetivos The Course objectives are:
- enhancing the participants' understanding of the
international norms underpinning the protection of
internally displaced persons;
- promoting the use and implementation of the Guiding
Principles of Internal Displacement;
- building up capacities of governments to establish or
improve existing legislation and policies on the
protection of internally displaced persons;
- encouraging the sharing of experiences and best
practices among the participants regarding protection of
IDPs and the search for solutions.

Contenido At the end of the course the participants should be able to:
identify the IDPs' rights and the corresponding obligations that governments and other involved actors have;
identify policy needs and gaps for an appropriate IDP response;
propose national mechanisms both for implementing the protection of IDPs and for monitoring;
and draw up a national action plan for legislation and policy implementation according to the national framework.

Metodología empleada This course responds to the increasing demand for up-to-date information on and understanding of Internal Displacement Law. It includes lectures, case studies, and practical exercises led by experts.
Requisitos de admisión The Course is designed for government officials and civil
society representatives responsible for and dealing with
internal displacement issues. The Course, which lasts five
days and is conducted in English, responds to the increasing
demand for up-to-date information on and understanding of
internal displacement and the applicable law. Participants will
strengthen their skills and knowledge through tailored
exercises and case studies, and will have the opportunity to
interact with the Special Rapporteur as well as with
practitioners and experts in the field of internal
displacement.
