Objectives The graduate diploma and graduate certificate explore what it means to build a culture and practice of human rights, and how to apply a human rights framework in your professional life. They will assist you to develop and test tools and approaches and understand the steps necessary to bring about changes in practice, behaviour and structures. You will integrate learning directly into the work you are doing. The development of these postgraduate programs has been informed by the strong partnerships the Australian Centre for Human Rights Education has developed with key government and non-government agencies. The programs are designed for professional development, academic interest, and for entry into the rapidly expanding human rights field. The area of human rights is inherently interesting due to its multi-faceted nature and multi-disciplinary approach to solving many contemporary problems. It is anticipated that there will be high demand for graduates of this program. Prospective students may be motivated by a desire to improve human rights in their existing professional environments, to move into a more exciting and challenging career, or a combination of both.

Content The Australian Centre for Human Rights Education (ACHRE) at RMIT University offers two exciting postgraduate programs which explore what it means and what it takes to build a culture and practice of human rights. The programs have been developed by a team of staff from a diverse range of discipline areas. They benefit from ACHREs experience in creating and delivering training programs and products for key government and non government organisations.

Graduate Diploma: one year full-time or two years part-time.

Graduate Certificate: six months full-time or one year part-time.

Transforming Organisations and Human Rights 1 (online)
Human Rights as Applied Communication
Applied Human Rights and Indigenous Peoples (face to face and online)

You may take all four subjects (full-time load), any number of subjects as a part-time load, or a single subject, which can be accredited as a stand-alone short course.

The courses also include online, interactive, self-paced and self-learning modules, which offer opportunities to post comments, assignment answers, live chat etc.

The Australian Centre for Human Rights Education (ACHRE) works to assist people and organisations to understand, exercise and apply human rights in their daily lives. Our emphasis is on empowerment through learning. We see learning occurring at any and all stages of a persons life and being provided via formal and informal educative processes. Our approach is multi disciplinary and incorporates a range of perspectives from social science, education, applied communication, ethics, architecture and organisational development.
