Objectives
The GSD-DIR research programme offers a unique and exciting intellectual environment for the in-depth and interdisciplinary study of International Relations and Diplomacy. Students can pursue their doctoral programme by distance on a full-time (3 years) or part-time basis (6 years) with 9-10 mandatory on-site visits to Geneva.

Year I
•4 compulsory visits to GSD
•Applicants register as MASIR/DIR students (Master of Advanced Studies in International Relations/Doctor of International Relations) during the first year of enrollment. Upon successful completion of the research progress (1st Progress Report), candidates will be upgraded to the status of Doctoral Candidates.
Year II
•3 compulsory visits to GSD
•Successful submission of 2nd and 3rd Progress Reports
Year III
•2 compulsory visits to GSD
•Successful submission of 4th Progress Report
•Submission of thesis and Defense.

Admission requirements
A first or 2:1 first degree and a MA in a subject appropriate to the course. Equivalent overseas qualifications are acceptable. A detailed research proposal (5.000 words) of your intended research together with a proof of English language proficiency is required.
